LEAD BY EXAMPLE

Teamwork is one of the most important aspects to our projects success.
We have the privilege to work with some of the best teams with strong and positive leaders who lead by example, which they make look easy!

Here are some of the big "DONT'S" from these team leaders we admire:

Don't blame team members to Clients. - WHY do people think throwing someone under the bus makes them look "better". If your team is succeeding, it means as a Manager, you are too! So...if someone fails or makes a mistake, it means you are not managing your team successfully. Lead by example. A team has the same Client and same goals, help each other and look good in front of your Client.

WHAT does bulldozing your team achieve? In the short term you might get your way and in the long term you may get resentment, distrust, anger and the reputation for being difficult to work with. Think of the big picture, the next project and the opportunity for repeat business. Lead by example, be respectful of your team!

Micro-managing never works. WHEN a team is under a micro-manager they become demoralized, distrusting and lose confidence in their own ability which puts more work on you and hurts production. Lead by example, delegate tasks clearly and focus on the bigger picture of your own duties.

Constantly pointing out the negative, will have a negative effect. Be a positive front runner, compliment and reward good work. WHERE would you be without your best people? Lead by example, praise in public, and criticize in private.

Just as blaming team members is no way to lead a team, taking credit for their accomplishments, might be worse. HOW can a team be productive if all anyone cares about is CYA and who gets the credit? Lead by example, keep the “I” out of TEAM

It is amazing what you can accomplish if you do not care who gets the credit”
